WICHITA, Kansas – Friday is the start of the first-ever Wichita restaurant week.
Participating restaurants will offer a special discounted menu and when you eat out, ten percent of that meal’s proceeds go directly to the Wichita Boys and Girls Club.
It’s a meal out that benefits you and hundreds of area kids.
“It’s just fun getting to hang out with people, having opportunities to go out places,” says Wisdom Knerr.
Fellow Boys and Girls Club member Brayllan Yepez says, “We’re gonna get wet, have a carnival, a whole bunch of stuff. Everyone needs to come here.”
These are just a few of the hundreds of kids who will benefit when you eat out next week during Wichita Restaurant Week.
When you eat, kids at the Wichita Boys and Girls Club eat.
“Help out families that don’t have food at home so kids come here they eat and satisfy themselves so when they go home they’re not starving,” explains member Tavian Smith.
Member Chyenne Johnson says, “It keeps kids interacting with each other, leadership skills, friendships and keeps them away from getting in trouble.”
Your dinner out transforms lives.
“I think I’m different from before I started coming because I’m more into my education now, they really push the kids into doing good on their school work,” says Smith.
Johnson says, “The after school program, the homework room, if you need help with homework we have two homework teachers and they’re real good with helping you understand something with your homework.”
And your dinner out also helps these kids have a little fun!
More than twenty area restaurants are participating in the first-ever Wichita Restaurant Week.
