WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police are searching for a 25-year-old man who was burned when trying to attack another 38-year-old man.

It happened Thursday morning in the 900 block of North Broadway.

The suspect showed up at the 38-year-old man’s home and pushed his way in the door with a gas can.

He tried to set the 38-year-old man on fire while he was in the bathtub.

“He was unsuccessful, and in the process of trying to set the man on fire in the bathtub, he set himself on fire and ran from the apartment when he was on fire,” said Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department.

The victim says he is unsure why the man tried to set him on fire.

Police say the suspect likely suffered burns to his hands and his torso. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
