Maine man charged in teen death pleads not guilty

BANGOR, Maine (AP) — A Maine man accused of using a phony Facebook profile to lure a 15-year-old girl to her death has pleaded not guilty to murder and kidnapping charges.

Twenty-year-old Kyle Dube (DOO’-bee), of Orono (OHR’-uh-noh), entered the pleas Wednesday during his arraignment at the Penobscot Judicial Center.

The defense requested a psychological evaluation for Dube, who remains jailed.

Police say Dube created a fake Facebook profile and used it to set up a meeting with Nichole Cable, of Glenburn, before killing her and hiding her body on May 12.

Police say Dube told others that he’d intended to abduct Cable and later come to her rescue. Her remains were found in nearby Old Town eight days after she disappeared. The medical examiner says she died from asphyxiation.
