WICHITA, Kansas — Wichita’s fountains are spraying water again but for fewer hours than past years because of the drought.

The city turned its five free interactive fountains on Wednesday morning. Those are the ones where children can splash and play in the shooting water.

The five fountains are located at Old Town Plaza, 334 N. Mead, Fairmount Park, 1647 N. Yale, Lincoln Park, 1323 S. Topeka, Osage Park, 2121 W. 31st Street South and Riverside Central, 720 Nims.

The fountains are open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. except for the fountain in Old Town. It stays open until 9:30 each night. Those hours are down 10 percent from last year.

Children and adults can play in the fountains, but pets are not allowed.
