Police looking for man who tried to abduct teenager

DODGE CITY, Kansas — Police say a man tried to abduct a teenage girl in Dodge City Sunday morning, but a bystander came to her rescue.

The 16-year-old girl was walking in the 1100 block of 3rd Avenue around 10:30 a.m. when a man in a white suburban approached her and tried to force her into the vehicle.

A bystander interrupted the abduction and the suspect fled.

Police say the suspect is a Hispanic male in his early 20s, approximately 5’8″, 150 pounds, muscular build, black hair and a very dark complexion. His hair is shaved on the sides and spiked on top.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue T-shirt with a white logo on it, black jeans and black tennis shoes. Police say he had a heavy accent suggesting Spanish is his primary language.

The vehicle is described as an early 2000s model white suburban with shiny wheels/rims and tinted windows. It had an unknown Kansas license plate.

If you have any information that could lead police to the suspect, call Crime Stoppers at 620-227-STOP or toll-free 877-424-4414.
