WICHITA, Kansas — Police have identified the victim of Wednesday’s fatal accident in west Wichita.

Drew Hopson, 52, died when his car swerved off 119th Street West between Kellogg and Maple around 8:45 a.m.

Police say Hopson suffered some type of medical condition. His vehicle went across oncoming lanes of traffic and hit a tree.

He died at the scene.

“We’re very fortunate that there wasn’t a car traveling northbound that they would have had a head-on collision. You know it could have been a lot worse, but it’s bad enough as it is,” said Sergeant Jerry Quick of the Wichita Police Department.
