Police: Suspect’s robbery note gives away his ID and residence

WICHITA, Kansas — A suspected robber was easily caught by police after a note he slipped to employees at a southeast Wichita restaurant revealed his identity and where he lives, police said Saturday.

Employees at the Spangles at 3505 East Harry said a 38-year-old man walked in the business at about 7:45 a.m., and handed over a note indicating that he had a gun and that he would kill them if they didn’t give him cash.

When he failed to acquire any money the man fled southbound on foot.

Police were able to quickly track the man down because the slip of paper on which he had written his demands turned out to be a bank reorder form with the suspect’s name and address clearly listed.

The man is now in custody.
