Teen arrested after hitting police horse with water bottle at Riverfest

WICHITA, Kansas — Wichita police arrested a 14-year-old girl after she threw a water bottle at a police officer’s horse.

It happened Thursday evening around 6:20 p.m. near Price Woodard Park at Riverfest.

Police say the girl wasn’t complying with police detectives to move.

She became upset and threw a water bottle at one of the police horses.

“It is illegal to harass or otherwise hit any police animal whether it’s a horse or a canine. They 14-year-old was subsequently taken into custody and arrested for bothering the police animal,” said Lt. Doug Nolte.
