WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police arrested a 37-year-old mother after she became upset Friday at Riverfest while looking for her daughter.
The woman apparently tried to get into a gated area without a button.
She did not have a button, but a passerby was nice and handed one to her.
“Security allowed the mother in. Upon leaving the area, there was an officer there, and the lady took the button off or was holding the button and threw the button at the police officer, striking the police officer,” said Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department.
Police say the woman then resisted arrest and jumped on the back of the police officer.
Several officers were called to subdue her.
Two girls, both 14 and 15, also began to create a disturbance and were taken into custody for battery of a law enforcement officer.
They resisted arrest as well.
Police say the officer wasn’t hurt in the disturbance.
