Man shot in the leg in SE Wichita

WICHITA, Kansas — A man was rushed to the hospital after he was shot twice in the leg near his home in southeast Wichita early Sunday morning, police said.

It happened at about 5:25 a.m. near a home in the 1600 block of South Volutsia — near the intersection of Harry and George Washington Boulevard.

The victim told police that as he walked out of his house, an unidentified man exited a dark gray vehicle and began firing at him.

He was first taken to Via Christi on Harry, and then transferred to Via Christi on Saint Francis with gunshot wounds to his right thigh and right foot.

No description of the suspect was available.
