Woman struck, killed by train in Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Topeka police are investigating the death of woman who was struck by a freight train.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/15rnnEb ) that the woman was struck and killed by the train Friday afternoon. The woman’s identity has not been released.

Witnesses told authorities the woman appeared to have stepped in front of the oncoming train. Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor, who was called to the scene, wouldn’t comment on whether officials believed the woman’s death was accidental.
