Arkansas sheriff’s body recovered after being swept away in flood

Y CITY, Ark. (AP) — Authorities have recovered the body of a sheriff who was swept away by floodwaters in western Arkansas overnight.

A wildlife officer is still missing.

Officials say the two were in a boat checking on residents in flooded Scott County when they disappeared.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission says the body of Sheriff Cody Carpenter has been recovered.

The area, about 125 miles west of Little Rock, was hit by severe storms yesterday.
