Wingnuts win in ninth inning

WICHITA, Kansas – – John Rodriguez sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth gave the Wichita Wingnuts a 7 to 6 victory over the Amarillo Sox in a game that took over five hours to complete Thursday night.

The game was delayed two hours in the fourth inning as the rain came to Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in downtown Wichita.

Rodriguez had a single in the first and a home run in the third inning to drive in three runs in the contest.

Jared McDonald also drove in three runs with four hits during the game. McDonald tripled in the second with single in the fourth, seventh and ninth innings.

Josh Dew picked up his first win of the season, striking out one, walking one with no hits given up

The Wingnuts have an off day Thursday before starting a three-game weekend series in Sioux Falls.
