Hays resident struck and killed by train

HAYS, Kansas — The Hays Police Department says a 22-year-old man is dead after being struck by a Union Pacific train.

It happened at 12:07 a.m. Thursday at the Oak Street crossing

Officers responded and found Jacob Lee Corwin.

The incident was investigated by the Ellis County Coroner’s Office, Hays Police Department and the Union Pacific Railroad.

Most of the railroad crossings in Hays were blocked by the train throughout the incident.
