GARY, Indiana – – The Wichita Wingnuts scored four run in the first inning en route to a 5 to 1 win over the Gary Railcats Wednesday at U.S. Steel Yard.

C.J. Ziegler hit a three-run homer in the first. It was Ziegler’s fifth roundtripper this season. Ziegler has collected 10 RBI this year.

John Rodriguez started the scoring with a run-scoring single.

Christopher M. Smith picked up his first victory this season holding Gary to a run and four hits in seven innings of work.

The Wingnuts return to Wichita Thursday night to host a three-game series against the New Jersey Jackals at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. Thursday’s game start at 7:05 p.m.
