Shockers eliminate Creighton

NORMAL, Illinois – – The Wichita State Shockers weathered out a nearly three-hour rain delay to defeat the Creighton Bluejays in the Missouri Valley Conference baseball tournament.

A. J. Ladwig pitched a first complete game of his career allowing four runs on 10 hits. Ladwig did not walk a batter and struck out a career eight Bluejay batters.

Casey Gillaspie homered going 2-for-2 with three runs batted in while Johnny Coy added a homer with two RBI in a 3-for-5 performance at the plate.

The Shockers will play another elimination game Thursday morning at 9 a.m. against Southern Illinois. The loss eliminated Creighton in its final team event in the Missouri Valley Conference.
