Maize teacher charged with criminal threats

MAIZE, Kansas — A Maize teacher that was arrested Wednesday for two counts of alleged criminal threats was officially charged Friday.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department says the incident happened Tuesday at the Maize High School Soccer field.

Deputies received a call from the Maize School Police Department about the incident.

Investigators worked the case through the night and arrested 39-year-old James Stiverson Wednesday morning on two counts of criminal threats.

He was being held on a $250,000 bond.

A judge reduced his bond Friday to $25,000 and set his preliminary hearing for June 6.
