Wingnuts take loss to Gary

GARY, Indiana – – Alain Quijano pitched shutout ball for six innings as the Gary SouthShore RailCats defeated the Wichita Wingnuts 5 to 1 Monday night.

Quijano gave up five hits, did not walk a batter and recorded three strikeouts.

Wichita  scored its only run in the eighth when John Rodriguez doubled into right field to score Ryan Khoury from first base. The Wingnuts got the lead run to the plate before Gary retired the side.

Wichita and Gary continue the series Tuesday morning at 11:10. Jon Link will be the starting for the Wingnuts and will face Gary’s Ari Ronick.

The Nuts return home on Thursday to meet the New Jersey Jackals at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
