GARDEN CITY, Kansas — Garden City leaders unveiled the new and improved highway bypass that will help making driving throughout the city a little easier.
Transportation officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday at the bypass and Schulman Avenue where the new Menards store is opening.
Officials say the bypass will help make a safer commute throughout all of Garden City.
“I’ve always said that people understand the importance of transportation. Where we have discussion is how to pay for it and how much to invest. And it truly is an investment in communities, a great example is this one here,” said Mike King, Kansas Transportation Secretary.
There are still some closures associated with the project.
Workers are putting the finishing touches on the northbound off-ramp to Kansas Avenue and Mary Street as well as the bypass intersection with Schulman.
City officials say those should be complete by early next month.
