WICHITA, Kansas — Wichita letter carriers picked up more than just mail on Saturday. They collected food that will help stave off hunger for thousands of area kids through the summer.

As part of the 21st annual National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive, Wichita resident’s were asked to set out bags of non-perishable food items that letter carriers would retrieve while on their normal routes and then deliver to the Kansas Food Bank.

The Kansas Food Bank will then distribute the goods to area families in need.
