HOLLYWOOD, California (NBC) — “The Voice” starts its live phase tonight on NBC.

After weeks of blind auditions and battle rounds, the four Voice coaches each have their teams down to four singers.

“Anybody at any point can perform a song, that’s just incredible and all of a sudden become a front runner,” says coach Blake Shelton.

That happened with last season’s winner, Cassadee Pope.

Her rendition of Shelton’s hit “Over You” was the turning point.

The audience connection is especially important now because the viewer voting begins to factor into who stays and who goes.

“The Voice” airs from 7-9 p.m. tonight and tomorrow.

The results show is Wednesday from 7-8 p.m.. That’s where the 16 contestants will be reduced to 12.
