WELLINGTON, Kansas — One woman is dead after a wreck between a car and a train in what officials are calling a suicide.

It happened Monday afternoon around 2:30 north of Wellington near the intersection of Seneca and 40th Avenue.

The Sumner County Sheriff tells KSN the car was parked on the tracks, and the driver who hasn’t been identified, made no effort to move it as the train approached.

Officials from Wellington, Belle Plaine, and the railroad company are on the scene investigating.
