WELLBORN, Alabama (WVTM) — An Alabama mother is facing charges after she told her community and her son’s school that the boy was terminally ill with colon cancer in order to collect gifts.
Sandra Lloyd told caring citizens her child needed to be transported to St. Jude’s Cancer Center for treatment.
Her alleged lies netted her money, gas cards and a vehicle to take her supposedly sick son to the hospital.
Sheriff’s deputies say Lloyd’s lies were uncovered when she was arrested for a minor traffic charge.
