Shockers drop extra inning contest to the Jayhawks

LAWRENCE, Kansas – – An RBI single by Dakota Smith as the Kansas Jayhawks beat the Wichita State Shockers 1 to nothing Tuesday night at Hoglund Ballpark.

Michael Suiter singled to start the bottom of the 11th, following a hit batsman and a bunt single Smith single send Suiter home with the only run of the game.

Ka’iana Eldridge towered a deep fly ball to left field that was called a grand slam homer as first but the umpires discussed the play and ruled a foul ball. Eldridge would fly to center field off Shocker reliver Albert Minnis to end the inning.

The Shockers return home Wednesday to host Kansas Wesleyan in 6:30 p.m. tilt at Eck Stadium.
