SALINA, Kansas — Authorities have been searching for two weeks for any sign of Kristin Tyler, 27.
The Salina woman and mother of four has been missing since April 28th.
The family says a body found Thursday afternoon in Northwest Salina is hers.
To understand emotional pain and lost is to see it in the eyes of Lisa and her daughter Carol.
KSN News was getting ready to interview Kristin’s mom Lisa when a detective stopped by her home.
Standing in front of their home Thursday afternoon, both women received word from a Salina detective that they had found the body of Kristin Tyler, 27.
Tyler who is a mother of four has been missing for two weeks. She was last seen running an errand on April 25th.
Family and friends reported her missing two days later when they say she never returned home.
Tyler’s car was found at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of East Crawford several days later.
“It’s unusual for her not to have contact. She does have young children,” said Lt. Scott Siemsen, Salina Police Department. “She had no contact with family which would be very unusual for her.”
A tip lead investigators to this salvage yard where they looked for four hours searching for any evidence leading to the whereabouts of Kristin Tyler.
Investigators say they found nothing, but their search efforts didn’t end there.
Saline Sheriff’s Officers found a female body in the 2000 block of W. Stimmel Rd near junction I35 and I70.
Roads near Stimmel and Fairchilds were blocked off as crime scene investigators gather evidence at the scene.
“Investigation is getting us to the point where we believe foul play is involved,” said Lt. Siemsen.
Police say Joe Heil, 24 was named a person of interest in the case.
Heil was brought in for questioning and arrested Wednesday evening at a hotel in Abilene on unrelated charges for violating probation.
KSN News asked the Lt. Siemsen if Heil has been cooperating and he said he couldn’t go into those details.
Police is expected to release more details in the investigation at a briefing Friday morning in Salina.
