WICHITA, Kansas — A date that started on Facebook ended in a high speed chase Saturday evening.

The 24-year-old was taking a 19-year-old woman and her kids to the movies when police tried to pull him over near St. Louis and West Street for no headlights at about 8:30 p.m., Sgt. Scott Brunow of the Wichita Police said.

That’s when he took off, speeding away with the mom and three kids before crashing into another car a few blocks away St. Louis and Sheridan.

The suspect then tried to flee on foot before he was tased and arrested by officers.

He was treated and released with minor injuries before he was booked into the jail on three counts of child endangerment and 10 felony traffic charges.

The mom and three kids weren’t hurt. Neither were the driver and 4-year-old child in the car he hit.

Sgt. Brunow said the suspect didn’t have a driver’s license, which may have prompted to him to run. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
