HOUSTON, Texas (KPRC) — A 59-year-old Houston, Texas woman who is confined to a wheelchair, was robbed in broad daylight Thursday by two men who threatened her with a knife.
Rachel Hernandez, 59, who suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure and other ailments, has been confined to a wheelchair since having her foot amputated a few years ago.
Hernandez had a friend drop her off at the intersection of Antoine and Tidwell, near her grandson’s apartment, when she saw the two men approaching her.
“I just said hi how y’all doing, and he suddenly takes knife and says shut up and don’t scream, and the other one yanked my purse and took off.,” said Hernandez.
Hernandez, who lives on disability, said she only lost about thirty dollars, but that’s all the money she had.
She also lost all of her medication.
Hernandez is staying with her grandson now, and trying to replace the medicine the thieves took.

Hernandez said she wasn’t able to give police a very good description of the two men that robbed her because it happened so fast, but she’s frightened that they’re still on the street.
