WICHITA, Kansas — A KC-135 Stratotanker had engine trouble and the crew made an emergency landing at Mid-Continent Airport Friday evening.
Fire and emergency crews rushed to the airport just before 5:30 Friday.
But they weren’t needed. The plane landed safely and no injuries were reported.
Valerie Wise, a spokesperson at Mid-Continent, says the refueling tanker was full of fuel and was doing maneuvers west of Wichita when one of its engines shut down.
She says because of the cloudy conditions, the tanker crew needed air traffic controllers to help it land and that’s why it landed at Mid-Continent instead of McConnell Air Force Base.
