WICHITA, Kansas — If you’re flying in or out of the Mid-Continent Airport, you’ll soon have a new place to park your car, or pick up a rental
City and airport officials broke ground Wednesday on a new parking garage and rental car center.
It’s all part of a new terminal project that’s set to open in the spring of 2015.
The new parking area will have 1,600 parking spaces.
“The first impression off the plane is the impression they’ll have of the city of Wichita, and they’re going to recognize that the city of Wichita and our region, we’re very sophisticated and maybe we’re not the rural, farming industry, and things of that nature that some think of us as in other states and other places. We’re more sophisticated. We are the air capital of the world,” said Mayor Carl Brewer.
Brewer says the construction will cause some inconvenience for travelers.
He encourages you to use the park and ride service and to arrive earlier than usual.
