BUTLER COUNTY, Kansas — Two people were injured, one critically, in a three-vehicle crash that involved a semi truck, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday.

It happened just after 4 p.m. on Highway 54 near Flint Hills Road.

The driver of a pickup truck was stopped in the westbound lane on Highway 54, waiting to make a left turn onto Flint Hills Road when the semi attempted to pass the truck, hitting it, and sending it into a ditch.

The semi then crossed the center line and was hit by an eastbound SUV.

A passenger in the SUV was taken to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver of the pickup was also taken to Wesley with non-life threatening injuries.
