Rice County fatal accident shuts down highway

RICE COUNTY, Kansas – Highway 56 was closed in Rice County near Windom for several hours Tuesday night after an oil truck caught on fire around 6 p.m.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the truck was traveling westbound when it went of the roadway, struck a concrete culvert, overturned and caught fire.

Clinton Koeh, 50, from McPherson was killed in the crash.

The highway is now open.
