Suspected poison mailed to senator

Senate considers gun bill

WASHINGTON (AP) – The FBI says an envelope addressed to Mississippi Sen. Roger Wicker will have to undergo further analysis before officials can confirm whether it contains the poison ricin.

The FBI says initial tests on the white granular substance produced mixed results.

The envelope was intercepted at a Senate mail facility outside Washington and was immediately quarantined.

Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill says the person believed to have mailed the envelope writes a lot of letters to lawmakers. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
