WICHITA, Kansas — Airbus Americas Engineering is once again growing in Old Town. The company, which currently occupies two properties in the historic district of downtown Wichita, will expand into a third space on May 1.

“When we expanded to 238 N. Mead in 2012 we expected to add 100 jobs; we have since increased by about 150. The new building will give us 10,000 square feet which we will use to give more space to our current employees, and allow for future growth,” said John O’Leary, Vice President of Engineering for Airbus Americas.

The new building is adjacent to Airbus’ existing buildings and will share Airbus’ 213 N. Mead address. It was previously occupied by another company and its interior is being refurbished to match Airbus’ other offices.

Airbus Americas in Wichita currently employs approximately 400 people in engineering and support functions focused on airframe design and analysis for wing structures on Airbus aircraft. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
