Better weather for final day of Farm and Ranch Expo in Great Bend

GREAT BEND, Kansas – Thousands came out to the annual Great Bend Farm and Ranch Expo on Thursday and Friday.

The expo focuses on everything related to agriculture like equipment, apparel, insurance and livestock. More than 700 booths cover the 80 acres at the Great Bend Expo Complex. The event is one of the largest farm shows in the region.

“It’s definitely good to network. Farmers are spread out throughout Kansas, so they may not come in contact with someone, so they may not know where to get a lot of their resources from,” said Dana Banbrimmer, expo vendor.

“Agriculture is the backbone of our state, and that’s what you know drives the U.S. Economy is agriculture. And it’s great to have it, this kind of event of this magnitude right here in Kansas, and right here in Great Bend,” added Darren Dale, Great Bend Farm and Ranch Expo manager

Friday was the last day of the expo, and officials say it was a success with more than 20,000 attendees.

” Anytime you have an outdoor event, you know the weather plays a big factor but sometimes it’s not really the number that goes through but the quality of attendees. We get the quality people that come and purchase products that make it a successful show for the vendors,” explained Dale.

Plans for next year are already in the works.

“As soon as this one’s over, we’ll start on the one for next year and you know it’s absolutely marvelous. You know I can’t thank all of our volunteers that come out. We have 26 committees and probably close to 300 volunteers,” said Jan Westfall, chair of the expo.
