Ice storm to give way to warmer weather

Trees full of ice

WICHITA, Kansas — A spring ice storm brought down trees and power lines across much of central Kansas overnight and this morning, but like most storms this time of year, it won’t last too long, and there is actually a “bright side” to the ice.

The ice brought some nice moisture to parts of Kansas with over an inch at Wichita Mid-continent Airport. In addition, the ice will provide some “insulation” from some very cold temperatures tonight which may reduce the amount of frost and freeze damage.

Nicer weather arrives as soon as tomorrow, and by the weekend, temperatures will be back to the 60s and 70s. The next storm system arrives early next week, but at this time it looks to only contain showers and thunderstorms.
