WICHITA, Kansas — Wichita officials announcing that they will close the 10th and 15th Street bridge over the I-135 canal beginning April 15.
The bridges will be closed for three weeks.
Engineers will study the effect on traffic in neighboring areas and will test whether the structures can be converted to less costly pedestrian bridges.
During the closures, travelers can cross the drainage canal at the four other bridges located within a half mile.
These include bridges at 9th, 11th, 13th and 17th Streets.
those four bridges would remain open to vehicular traffic should the 10th Street and 15th Street structures be converted into pedestrian bridges.
