TOPEKA, Kansas — The Kansas Highway Patrol says a man was trapped in his car overnight Sunday after he crashed along I-70 west of Topeka.
Troopers say that Daniel Delatore’s white Chevy Impala left the highway, passing sharp rocks on its way to the bottom of a dry creek bed.
Delatore waited until Monday afternoon when a passing driver spotted the wreck and called 911.
“He was in pretty good shape for being here since Sunday night,” said Tropper Marcus Seirer.
Eastbound I-70 was closed for about 30 minutes while crews worked on Delatore and loaded him on the helicopter to be transported to the hospital.
Delatore is from Junction City.
