WICHITA, Kansas — Wichita police are in the early stages of an investigation following a shooting that injured a 23-year-old woman
It happened in the 5000 block of East New Jersey Drive just before 11 p.m. Sunday night.
Police say the woman was standing on the porch waiting for her uncle to give her a ride to work when a man wearing a black hat started shooting.
She was hit five times in the back and abdomen.
Several bullets went through the front door of a home where a 49-year-old man and 51-year-old woman were inside.
Neither were hit.
The victim was transported to Wesley Medical Center.
Police say her injuries are not life threatening, and they have not identified the suspect.
