WICHITA, Kansas — Wichita police are investigating after a body was found around 12:30 p.m. in the 100 block of West MacArthur in a lake.

The lake happens to be the same area that a police car chase ended with the suspect jumping into the water on March 8.

Now, officials are tying to identify the body and see if it is indeed the same man who escaped.

“We were told three weeks ago by the people that own the lake that there’s a lot of concrete and rebar and rubble inside the lake under water. So, we were worried about a body getting snagged on that,” said Lt. EJ Bastian, Wichita police.

Now, police heavily searched the area after the suspect crashed three weeks ago but were unable to find him.

The coroner is working on the identification.
